Position Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse – Radiation Oncology

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

No Weekends or Holidays

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Radiation Oncology team. This is a full-time, weekday position that offers a consistent schedule and a collaborative, patient-centered environment.

As an integral member of the Radiation Oncology care team, the RN is responsible for the coordination and delivery of comprehensive nursing care, following the Nursing Process and all applicable standards, guidelines, and ethical codes. The RN provides safe, therapeutic care while demonstrating initiative, clinical knowledge, and critical thinking skills in supporting patients with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver expert, evidence-based care to oncology patients and their families.
  • Conduct assessments, develop individualized plans of care, implement interventions, and evaluate patient outcomes.
  • Set care priorities effectively based on patient acuity and clinical judgment.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Provide age-specific and culturally sensitive care, particularly to adult and geriatric populations.
  • Educate patients and families using appropriate resources, documenting plans and outcomes according to department standards.
  • Facilitate continuity of care, including coordination of referrals and community resources.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in compliance with nursing standards.
  • Safely administer medications and perform nursing procedures in alignment with policies and protocols.
  • Maintain and monitor emergency medications and ensure proper support during CT simulations.
  • Demonstrate readiness in emergency situations and maintain current BLS certification.
  • Actively participate in quality improvement and educational initiatives at the unit and organizational levels.

Qualifications:

  • Valid RN license in the State of Connecticut
  • Minimum of 1 year clinical nursing experience (Oncology or Radiation Oncology preferred)
  • BLS certification (required)
  • Strong communication, assessment, and critical thinking skills
  • Commitment to patient advocacy, confidentiality, and ethical practice
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
